You have a meaningful story. Your story can help others feel at ease knowing someone else understands. Help us build a more connected community by sharing your story and answering questions like:

How has alopecia impacted your life? What supports have been beneficial to you? What changes do you want to see in the future of health care?

Here are a few tips to help:

    • Understand that sharing your story can be daunting. Acknowledge this, be kind to yourself, and let it happen at it’s own pace.
    • Realize your impact. Remember how you felt the first time meeting someone else with alopecia. Maybe you felt less alone or more confident hearing their story. Now imagine how you will have that same impact on someone else by telling your own.
    • Know why you are sharing your story. Do you want to raise awareness and educate? Maybe you’re holding a fundraiser and you want to inspire people to donate. If you are asking for something in return, be direct.
    • Before sharing, build up positive energy by reading these affirmations. Believe in yourself and your power to be a voice for others who are struggling.
    • Have support close by. Maybe that’s a friend, family member, or a mentor who can provide a shoulder to lean on if you need it. You can even plan a relaxing, fun activity to recharge your mind.

We thank everyone who has shared their stories this year. Whether through our blog posts, events, social media, or your own channels, doing so has strengthened this community and empowered others. To share a story, email us at info@canaaf.org.
